Webnames.ca has been made aware of a phishing campaign targeting customers with fraudulent emails that falsely appear to originate from Webnames.ca. These messages attempt to trick recipients into clicking malicious links and providing account information.
What the Fraudulent Email Looks Like
Customers have reported receiving emails with characteristics similar to the following:
- Display Name: Webnames.ca
- From Address:
noreply@cngexpo.com - Subject: Action required: Please confirm your contact info.
- Claims that your domain will be suspended or placed on hold unless you verify your contact information.
- Includes a “Verify Now” button and a link to a third-party website.

Neither the sender address nor the destination website shown above are associated with Webnames.ca.
How to Identify This as a Phishing Attempt
There are several warning signs:
- The email originates from a domain unrelated to Webnames.ca (
cngexpo.com). - The verification link directs to a third-party website that is not owned or operated by Webnames.ca.
- The message creates a sense of urgency by claiming your domain will be placed on hold.
- The sender attempts to impersonate Webnames.ca branding and support information.
Webnames.ca will not ask customers to verify account information through third-party websites.
What You Should Do
If You Have Received This Email
- Do not click any links or buttons.
- Do not enter any account credentials or personal information.
- Delete the email or mark it as phishing/junk in your email application.

If You Clicked the Link But Did Not Enter Information
